How Do You Make a Crepe From Scratch?

Making the perfect crepe from scratch can seem daunting, but it’s really pretty simple! This step-by-step guide will show you how to make the perfect crepe from scratch. Crepes are versatile dishes that can be eaten for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. They are also great for dessert or a daytime snack on the go. With just a few ingredients and a little bit of practice, you’ll be able to make delicious crepes at home in no time. Let’s get started.

1. The main ingredients you’ll need:

  • Flour
  • Eggs
  • Milk
  • Butter
  • Salt

2. The steps you’ll need to follow

The first step is to make it batter. Combine the flour, milk, eggs, and melted butter in a blender or food processor and blend until smooth. If you don’t have a blender or food processor, you can whisk the ingredients together by hand.
The crepe batter should be thin enough to pour quickly but not too thin. If it’s too thick, add a little more milk; add a bit more flour if it’s too thin.
Once the batter is the right consistency, transfer it to a bowl and let it rest for at least 30 minutes. This will allow the gluten in the flour to relax, which will result in a smoother one.
If you’re in a hurry, you can make them right away, but they will be thinner and less smooth.
Now that the batter is ready, it’s time to cook them. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and brush with melted butter. Pour ¼ cup (60 ml) of batter into the pan and tilt it around so that the batter evenly coats the bottom.
Cook the crepe for about two minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and begin to pull away from the pan. Flip the crepe and cook for another minute on the other side.
Repeat with the remaining batter, brushing the skillet with more butter as needed. Once all of them are cooked, you can fill them with your desired toppings and enjoy them.
That’s it. Now you know how to make a crepe from scratch. With a bit of practice, you’ll be able to make perfect crepes at home every time. Bon Appétit!
